Mr Kalifis is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee and hip surgery. He completed his specialist training in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at hospitals in Greece and the United Kingdom, followed by further subspecialty training in the UK.
He holds the FEBOT qualification (Fellow of the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology), awarded following successful completion of the European Board examinations.
Education and Professional Experience
Mr Kalifis graduated from the School of Medicine at Democritus University of Thrace in 2015.
He served as a medical officer in the Hellenic Armed Forces with the 71st Airmobile Brigade and completed his rural medical service at the Krya Vrysi Health Centre in Pella, Greece.
He undertook his specialist training in Orthopaedics and Traumatology in Greece and the United Kingdom, holding clinical posts at Hippokration General Hospital of Thessaloniki, Chalkida General Hospital, Larissa University Hospital, and Hull Royal Infirmary in the UK. He obtained his specialist qualification in Orthopaedics and Traumatology in 2023 following successful completion of the relevant examinations.
Following completion of his specialist training, he worked as a senior clinical fellow at the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital in the United Kingdom. He received fellowship training focused on total and unicompartmental knee arthroplasty, total hip arthroplasty, robotic-assisted joint replacement, and arthroscopic knee surgery.
Research and Academic Activity
Mr Kalifis has authored a number of publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and also serves as a reviewer for international medical journals.
He has presented his work and delivered lectures at numerous scientific meetings and conferences in Greece and internationally. In 2022, he received the Best Paper Award in the “Knee” category at the ESSKA Congress in Paris, France. In 2018, he received the Trainees’ Award at the OTEMATH Congress in Thessaloniki, Greece.
He is an active member of several national and international orthopaedic scientific societies, including ESSKA, ISAKOS, ICRS, the Orthopaedic and Traumatology Society of Macedonia–Thrace (OTEMATH), and the Hellenic Association of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (HAOST).
