

Michael Tsitas MD, MSc, PhD(c) is an Obstetrician-Gynecological Surgeon with many years of clinical and academic experience in Germany, where he trained and worked at leading university and academic centers in North Rhine-Westphalia. Combining clinical experience, academic activity, and continuous education to international standards, he has developed a comprehensive medical profile that meets the modern demands of obstetrics and gynecology.
After completing his studies at the University of Ioannina, he moved to Germany and began his specialization at the university hospital in Bochum (Marienhospital Herne, Klinikum der Ruhr - Universität Bochum). There, he trained in modern ultrasonography techniques, participated in the management of obstetric and gynecological cases, taught medical students, and commenced his doctoral thesis.
He then completed his specialization at St. Vincenz Krankenhaus Datteln, one of the most important Perinatalzentrum Level I centers in Germany. There, he gained extensive experience in high-risk pregnancies, perinatal medicine, and modern gynecological surgery. After his specialization, he was promoted to Senior Physician, playing an active role in the training of resident doctors.
In 2021, he obtained the specialization title in Special Obstetrics and Perinatal Medicine (Spezielle Geburtshilfe und Perinatalmedizin) and DEGUM certification in advanced ultrasonography.
During his many years in Germany, he developed significant experience in gynecological surgery, with a particular focus on robotic surgery, laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, gynecological oncology, urogynecology, and colposcopy. The MIC II title confirms his expertise in minimally invasive endoscopic and robotic procedures. He also holds AGUB, AGCPC Diplom, DEGUM, and IBCLC certifications.
His professional career culminated in the position of Deputy Director and subsequently Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic at Karolinen-Hospital Hüsten, with responsibility for department organization, resident training, and the management of complex cases.
After fifteen years in Germany, he returned to Thessaloniki and now practices as a private physician at GynDocs in Thermi, providing comprehensive care in obstetrics, gynecology, fetomaternal medicine, and gynecological surgery. He lives permanently in Greece with his wife, also a gynecologist, and their three children, with a steadfast commitment to safety, scientific accuracy, and a human-centered approach.
