Dr. Ioannis Nikolaidis, MD, MSc, PhD is a specialist Neurologist and specializes in the field of headache and neuroimmunology. He works in the National Health System (NSS) as a Curator where he carries out clinical, research and teaching work and is in charge of the multiple sclerosis clinic of the Neurological Department of the National Institute of Hippopotarios, while also maintaining his private practice.
He completed his specialization in Neurology at the B Neurological Clinic of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, at the ACHEPA University, during which he completed his doctoral thesis on neuroimmunology. He then served as an Academic Fellow at the same neurological clinic for 6 consecutive years, gaining extensive clinical and research experience across the spectrum of neurological diseases and especially in the field of neuroimmunology. He holds a master's degree in neuroimmunology and has authored numerous research papers that have been published in prestigious international and national scientific journals, as well as chapters on neurological diseases in scientific books.
In addition, he is a reviewer of scientific papers for publication in a number of peer-reviewed scientific journals, such as Multiple sclerosis and related disorders, PlosOne, Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology, Neurodegenerative Disease Management, HIV Medicine, Frontiers in Immunology. He actively participates with speeches and announcements at national and European conferences, and is also a member of scientific societies, such as the European Stroke Association (ESO), the European Academy of Neurology (EAN), the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC), the Hellenic Society of Infections, the Hellenic Society for the Study and Treatment of AIDS, the Hellenic Society for Research, Study, and Education in Infections, Hellenic Neurological Society (ENE) and Hellenic Headache Society. In addition, he is a member of the Institutional Committee in the Scientific Group of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) on Infectious Diseases of the Nervous System, as a representative of the Hellenic Neurological Society from 2021 to the present. She has served as a member of the Scientific Programming Committee of the Hellenic Academy of Neuroimmunology from 2017 to 2023, and was a member of the authoring team of the guidelines for the management of multiple sclerosis during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It also conducts informative public speeches for the public in cooperation with patients' associations with the aim of validly informing them and raising their awareness on health issues.
In 2025 he founded and developed in collaboration with Emeritus Professor of Neurology, Mr. Hourglass, the headache clinic, made aware of the impact on the personal, professional and social life of headache sufferers.
He is married to Pulmonologist-Intensive Care Specialist Stella Primikiri and has 2 children.
